The South Salem Choir Program has a rich tradition dating back to the founding of South Salem High School in 1954. Since the inception of the program, South Choirs have been consistently recognized for their superior performances, preparing young artists for life after high school, and community outreach. Currently, the choirs that make up the South Choir Program are Symphonic Choir, Chamber Women’s Choir, Statesmen, Bella Voce, Chanteuse, Acafellas and Southernaires.
Known as one of the outstanding choral programs in the Pacific Northwest and the United Sates, choirs from South have performed at the Northwest American Choral Director’s Association Convention, Oregon Music Educator’s Association Winter Conference, and have placed in the top 5 of every OSAA State Choir Championship, including 12 State Championships with the most recent being the 2014 Championship.
